Google is continually enhancing the travel search experience by adding the ability to book hotels directly from search results. This update follows shortly after improvements to the flight booking experience, which now includes delay predictions and cheaper fares.
In addition to enabling bookings directly from Google, the new update allows users to filter hotel prices in various ways and find amenity information more easily.
Google aims to integrate its Google Flights service into hotel searches and vice versa, eventually enabling users to effortlessly switch between the two services.
With these integrations, users will be able to view hotel and flight options on the same screen when searching for a destination. Additionally, Google will consolidate flight and hotel information in one place. A new ‘Your Trips’ section will display all past, present, and future travel plans. This travel information can also be accessed via the Google Trips app, with Google retrieving travel details from confirmation emails sent to users’ Gmail accounts.
Google did not specify whether it will track travel reservations from other services or only those made through Google Search. Travel information stored in ‘Your Trips’ will only be accessible by the individual user it was sent to.
